Eating fruits is an important and healthy thing for the body. There are dozens of varieties of fruits . Fruits contains lots of vitamins, minerals, natural sugar, antioxidant and fibers. But there are some facts about over consumption of fruits which everyone should know:
Oranges
We all know that orange is a citrus fruit, excellent source of vitamins C. But many people don’t know that oranges can cause heart burn especially in people who already suffer regular heartburn. The reason for this is the high acidic nature of orange. Also eating too many oranges causes heartburn in people who are suffering from gastroesophageal reflux disease.
Mangoes
Mango is one of the most popular fruits. There are many health benefits of mangoes but some people have mango latex allergy especially of raw unripe mangoes. Those who are sensitive, immediate reaction occurs. Reaction develops because of anacardic acid present in raw unripe mangoes, and because of this itchiness at the angle of mouth, ulceration and swelling of the lip can occur. In some severe cases vomiting, diarrhoea and respiratory difficulty may manifest.
Papaya
Papaya is highly nutrient and papaya is unsafe during pregnancy because of unprocessed chemical called papain present in papaya which might be poisonous to the fetus and can cause birth defects.
Eating too much papaya can cause carotenemia, in which beta carotene level increases in blood and causes yellowing of soles and palm.
Pineapple
Pregnant ladies should not eat too much pineapple because it contains a chemical called Bromelain which softens the cervix and helps to induce labour. It mainly occur because of excessive eating. If any pregnant lady eats pineapple in first trimester it may increase the chances of abortion.
Grapes
Grapes are natural blood thinners, because they are high in salicylates. Grapes block the body’s production of vitamin K, which works as coagulating factor of blood. Because of this reason people should avoid eating grapes prior to any surgery.
